  • July 05, 2015

The Tour des Ports de la Manche is a regatta organized during the month of July. The competition is the biggest yacht race in Normandy and one of the biggest in French sailing. It involves several different marinas in La Manche and in the Channel Islands: Granville, Jersey, Guernsey, Barneville-Carteret, Port-Diélette, Cherbourg-Octeville, Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue.

It provides participants with a unique navigational challenge aswell as a fantastic journey for up to 110 boats and their crews in an incredible atmosphere. Seen as one of the real sporting challenges it also forces the crew to bond and work as a team if they want a chance to win this friendly competition.

This regatta lasts one week and hosts up to 700 sailors. It is open to everyone from the leisure yachtsman to the experienced sailor. Boats range from 7 to 14 meters and there are 5 different categories, so there is something for everyone.

For those left ashore there is the opportunity to follow the contest via our Race player, which is supplied data such as gps, speed and direction at predetermined intervals from the trackers that are installed pre-race. This provides an easily visual way to follow the progress of one yacht or the whole fleet.
