London to Capetown 2016
- January 05, 2016
We will be tracking two brothers who have taken on the challenge of driving a souped-up Land Rover Discovery Series 2 over 10,000 miles through 18 countries. They are hoping to to complete their epic journey in under 10 days and therefore become record breakers.
Starting at Marble Arch, London they will drive to Dover and catch a short ferry across to Calais, France. From there they will make their way across the borders of Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, Namibia and finally South Africa
After over 10,000 miles the finish line at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town will be a welcome sight for the two travellers. Throughout their adventure friends and family will be able to follow their route as their car will have a YB tracker installed before setting off. The tracker will collect and transmit data such as GPS coordinates, speed and altitude every fifteen minutes, straight to the website. It is also being used as a communication device so the lads can keep in contact with their UK base as well as loved ones.
