Hong Kong to Hainan 2016
- October 07, 2016
The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club organises the well established Volvo Hong Kong to Hainan Race. This biennial Offshore Category One race is a classic 390nm downwind passage to Sanya, on the island of Hainan in southern China. Sanya is a great finish location for boats intending to continue on to other sailing events around the Asia-Pacific region.
The current race record of 25h 54m 33s was set in the 2014 edition of the race by Karl Kwok's Beau Geste.
YB has been tracking this fast paced race since 2012 and we are delighted to be providing a tracking solution once again. Each yacht will be issued a YB tracker to be installed above deck prior to the race start. The trackers will wake up at predetermined intervals to collect and transmit data to YB HQ. The data is almost instantaneously received and updates our live race player. This means that friends, family and international supporters can follow the yacht's every twist and turn throughout the competition.
For more information about the race and live tracking once the starting klaxon is sounded please visit Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club website.
