Oman Sail -The Tour of Arabia 2014

  • January 24, 2014

The Tour, the Gulf region’s only annual long distance offshore sailing event organised by Oman Sail will start on 9th February 2014. It is a 15 day, 760 nautical mile Gulf coast challenge.  Along the way the fleet will call at eight world class marinas in four nations, from Bahrain to Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Zighy Bay, Almussanah and the finish in Oman’s beautiful capital city, Muscat.

What started as an alternative Middle Eastern event to the Tour de France à la Voile, has now turned into a huge sporting  event that attracts some of the best sailing talent in the world, making Oman and the GCC a sought-after winter venue in the international sailing calendar.

The Tour  is building on it's huge successes in 2013 with 12 elite GCC and international teams expected to enter  this year. The race has rapidly become one of the most popular “warm” winter fixtures of the global sailing calendar and an alluring showcase of everything the Gulf has to offer in terms of state-of-the-art facilities and idyllic sailing conditions.

Last year Team AISM, skippered by Bertrand Pacé, eight time winner of the Tour de France à la Voile and helm of two America’s Cup challenges, were crowned 2013 champions. But who will be this years winning team?

We are delighted to be providing our trackers for the duration of the event which means you will be able to view the fleets movements with our race player . This will be updated with each vessels GPS co-ordinates, speed and direction every fifteen minutes so loved ones, friend and supporters left on land can view every twist and turn that this race has to offer.
