19-year-old Belgian-British pilot sets a world record as the youngest woman to fly solo around the world.

In August 2021, a young woman named Zara Rutherford embarked on a remarkable journey that would take her across the globe. Leaving Belgium behind, she set off on a daring solo flight around the world in a very small plane.

With determination and skill, Zara successfully completed her monumental round-the-world trip, shattering multiple world records in the process. Not only did she become the youngest woman ever to fly solo around the world, but she also claimed the title of the youngest person to achieve this feat in a microlight aircraft.

Zara's passion for aviation was deeply rooted in her family's legacy. Growing up surrounded by aviators, she had exceptional role models to inspire her to pursue her dreams in life. Motivated by her heritage, Zara sought to use her extraordinary accomplishment as a platform to ignite inspiration in others, particularly young women.

Her journey served as a powerful symbol of empowerment, encouraging individuals from all backgrounds to chase their aspirations and promoting a more inclusive and diverse aviation industry. Zara aimed to break down barriers and open doors for women in the field, advocating for increased opportunities and representation within aviation-related careers. Through her extraordinary achievement, she became a beacon of hope, inspiring a new generation to reach for the sky and beyond.

Zara Rutherford using YB3 Tracker

YB Tracking supported Zara by providing a YB3 tracker and two-way communication device, ensuring that wherever Zara flew, there were people who knew exactly where she was, and could contact her if needed.

A huge congratulations to Zara and her family, along with the support team for this endeavour. We hope Zara decides on another great adventure we can follow again.
