SCF Far East Tall Ships Regatta
- August 29, 2018
Tall ships from Russia, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia have arrived with much fanfare at the South Korean port of Yeosu, in preparation for Sail Training International's Sovcomflot Far East Tall Ships Regatta. You can admire the tall ships berthed at the port until September 1st, after which they will head off to Vladivostok, Russia.
Established 60 years ago, Sail Training International organizes sailing adventures that give younger people the opportunity to gain hands-on sailing experience, learn about themselves and develop their teamwork skills.
This year marks the return of the regatta to the Far East following a 21 year hiatus, and is certain to attract tall ships aficionados and curious visitors from all over the world. The Far East Tall Ships Regatta also signifies Sail Training International’s continuing commitment to develop international understanding and friendship.
For the first part of the regatta, the Class A Tall Ships and a Class D yacht will race north along the East Sea, arriving in Vladivostok by September 8th. A two day celebretory event will follow, giving crews time to rest and prepare for the second part of the regatta. The Vladivostok Day Race will take place on September 11th, with the tall ships returning back to berth on the 14th.
Our trackers are keeping tabs on the Regatta, doing their part so that everyone on board will have a safe, fun and memorable voyage.
